What do you think about this sign for "fun"?

Pah! Welcome to my own vlog since I have been a guest in my mom's vlog known as Deaf Progressivism. I want to discuss the sign, "fun", since I noticed some people especially who are hearing sign fun in a different way. Have you seen this sign and is it acceptable to you?

Hi Brianna.

I think it's FUN that you have your own vlog now. I know you'll have a lot of FUN making more videos.

I think the second sign for FUN is the correct sign. But I think it's FUNNY that hearing people sign FUN in a FUNNY way! (giggle)

Keep on vlogging sweetie!

**Hands waving** PAH!!!

Brianna, welcome to the vlogland and it is even FUN & neat to have your own vlog! I think that the second sign for FUN is the correct sign!

You seem to be a very articulate and intelligent individual for your age!! You have made your mom PROUD and also INSPIRE us, the DR bloggers and vloggers alike!

Welcome! 1st sign is for "making fun" of somebody. 2nd sign is for your own personal experiences when you had a fun time. I saw this 2 signs with my deaf grandparents and deaf adults while I grew up - it makes sense to me. I encouraged my students to NOT make fun of others in that 1st sign.

My son may join the vlogland soon.. he is 8, like you!

Hi, Brianna, I am so pleased to see you having your own vlog! I hope more Deaf kids will set up their own vlogs.

About the sign fun, maybe these hearing people were taught the wrong way by their teacher(s) who didn't know the real meaning of that first sign fun, which actually means make fun of. I could be wrong, though

Brianna, your vlog is absolutely captivating! Not only is it by a young Deaf DoD, it brings us an example of KidASL which we need to keep saving both for memory and for future reference.

I think all the signs for "fun" are correct as used in the Deaf community. Someone is "funny" (on the nose) or "having fun" (both variations you used). The second sign is an extra emphasis of the first sign meaning a little longer time having fun, like an afternoon at the playground.

Hope you and your family always have fun!

Welcome to vlogland! You remind me of my deaf neice who is 7 years old and always tell me I sign strange! ha ha yes! She is in Bi Bi school and I don't sign ASL all the time..bad habit, I sign PSL often.

I've seen both signs and I think first fun is better. I do see some people use second fun for exagerated fun sign or with "make" for "make fun of".

Bravo! We finally have a fifth child vlogger (Not including Hawk Relay's contest because true vloggers post vlogs for fun)Second sign of FUN is better! First sign of FUN is weird to me! Hope to see you in more vlogs! And convince your brother to vlog too!-Jehanne
